Humanitarian Award 2014 – The 1803 Medal

This year’s humanitarian award was presented to our Patron, Senator David Norris on Saturday the 10th of November at Outhouse on Capel Street in Dublin.

While the weather was extremely wet, it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of our members and a wonderful afternoon was had by all.

The 1803 Medal is awarded on a bi-annual basis to an individual who has demonstrated a conviction to humanitarian work in an Irish context and was first awarded in 2012 to Sr. Stan Kennedy.

The award was presented to Senator David Norris by a majority vote of our members early this year and is in recognition of David’s committement to human rights in Ireland and throughout the world.

A short address was given by Brian Merriman, Founder of the Dublin International Gay Theatre Festival and the awards itself was presented by former Minsiter for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affiars, Pat Carey.
