The International Napoleonic Society promotes the study of the Napoleonic Era in accordance with proper academic standards. To this end, the INS honors the leading minds in this field by making them Fellows of the INS (FINS). Additionally, we hold International Napoleonic Congresses that bring scholars together from around the world. We welcome you to this Congress in the beautiful city of Cork and hope you will gain additional insight into the Napoleonic Epoch as well as renew old friendships and gain new ones. And many thanks to Cormac Finn O’Brien for his invaluable help in organizing this Congress!
This Congress marks the tenth anniversary of the Napoleon Society of Ireland. I offer my sincere congratulations to President Derek Byrne and Vice-President Cormac Finn O’Brien for the great success they have achieved!

Wednesday 6 July Tour One: Cobh (Dr. Verling’s grave, Cobh Cathedral, lunch at Bella Vista (Dr. Verling’s home), the Cobh Experience, the Titanic Experience. Cobh is a 15-minute train ride from Cork.
6:00 Reception and Gala Dinner, The Imperial Hotel
Thursday 7 July Tour Two: Georgian houses in North Cork, focusing on the St Ledger and Ainsley families who had connections to Dr. Verling. Transportation pending.
Friday 8 July Tour Three: Areas related to the Bantry Bay invasion and West Cork, exploring the major connections between Cork and the early stages of the French Republic, with highlights including a visit to one of Ireland’s most important places of the Irish Civil War Bail na Blath (where Cork’s most important politician was shot dead).
Saturday 9 July Walking tour of Cork, including visits to the Crawford Art Gallery that contains some Canova casts, the English Market, the Four Face Liars and other sites.
Note: Tour transportation costs and admission fees are the responsibility of those joining the tour. All tour times to be announced and will leave from The Imperial Hotel.
